Watch This Rare Giant Squid Sighting Off The Coast of Japan [Video]

A Giant Squid is a real life mystery of the sea, but we were treated to a close up look at one on Christmas Eve.

Sightings of the Giant Squid are so rare that nobody had ever captured one on camera until 2004.  That's one of the many reasons why this amazing video is so special.

The squid caught in this video is small compared to how big the Giant Squid can grow, but 12 feet is still pretty intimidating.  The Giant Squid can grow upwards of 40 feet long, and are still one of the most mysterious creatures in the ocean.
