Following a meeting between Kanye West and president-elect Donald Trump last month, many wondered about the nature of the relationship between the two and what role, if any, Kanye would hold in the years to follow. There was as well as to whether Kanye would perform at Trump's Inauguration ceremony to be held Friday (Jan. 20) particularly amidst reports that there was difficulty booking top talent.

Speaking with CNN's Erin Burnett on OutFront, Tom Barrack, Trump's longtime friend and the chair of his Presidential Inaugural Committee, said that Kanye was not asked to perform at the inauguration, which has since booked Toby Keith, Three Doors Down, The Rockettes, The Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Jackie Evancho.

"We haven’t asked him," Barrack said. "He’s been great. He considers himself a friend of the president-elect. But it’s not the venue. The venue we have for entertainment is filled out. It’s perfect. It’s going to be typically and traditionally American. Kanye is a great guy we just haven’t asked him to perform. We move on with our agenda."

It was announced yesterday that Chrisette Michelle will as well perform, prompting Questlove to ask the singer to reconsider, saying he'd pay her to not play. YG said this week that he'd perform his anti-Trump anthem "FDT" for $4 million, while 2 Chainz said he declined an offer to join the bill. Azealia Banks on the other hand, expressed a strong desire to perform, writing on Facebook, “This is an EPIC moment in modern history and it should def be celebrated in style."
