Will Rihanna Play Whitney Houston In A New Biopic?

A breaking report says that Rihanna might be one of the front runners to play Whitney Houston in a biopic about her life.

Clive Davis is said to be ready to get the details finalized around the movie, but lead actress names are still being thrown around.

The Daily Mail reports that Jennifer Hudson and Jordin Sparks are in the running for the role of Whitney.  Willow Smith is another name being put out there, but she would play a teenage Houston.

Those planning the film see it as a similar effort to the Tina Turner biopic ‘What’s Love Got to Do With It,’ which became a critical and box office hit in 1993. Houston had been considered for the role of Turner, which eventually went to Angela Bassett, who earned an Oscar nomination for her performance.

The Daily Mail reports that Rihanna turned down an opportunity to remake ‘The Bodyguard,’ saying she didn’t want to portray a singer, so it’s not clear whether she’d be up for the idea of playing Whitney.
