6ix9ine Requests His Sentencing Be Expedited
Now that 6ix9ine has accomplished his goal of assisting the federal government by providing testimony that helped convict his former associates Anthony "Harv" Ellison and Aljermiah "Nuke" Mack, he is ready to learn his fate, and he wants to know sooner than later.
According to court documents obtained by XXL, on Friday (Oct. 4), Tekashi's lawyer Lance Lazzaro filed a court request asking that his client's sentencing date be expedited. The "Gummo" rapper's original sentencing date was set for Jan. 24, 2020, but the rapper wants it to happen before the end of the year. According to the document, the prosecution does not oppose the appeal.
"Counsel for Mr. Hernandez respectfully requests that sentencing be scheduled on an expedited basis. The Government does not object to this request," the document reads.
6ix9ine was facing upwards of 47 years in prison if convicted on racketeering and other charges. His decision to cooperate with the government may substantially lower that sentence. Some reports say the rapper could be released as early as the beginning of next year. When he is released, Tekashi will reportedly turn down the witness protection program and try to resume his music career. He also believes he will be more popular than ever when he gets out.
Due in part to 6ix9ine's testimony, Anthony "Harv" Ellison was found guilty of kidnapping the rapper on July 22, 2018. Ellison and Aljermiah "Nuke" Mack were both reportedly found guilty of racketeering conspiracy. Mack was also found guilty of conspiring to distribute narcotics.
