Alicia Keys Covers Drake’s “In My Feelings” and Juice Wrld’s “Lucid Dreams” at 2019 Grammy Awards
Alicia Keys served as the host of the 2019 Grammy Awards, but she also hit the stage to deliver a performance of her own and paid homage to Drake, Juice Wrld and more. On Sunday (Feb. 10), the Grammy Award-winning singer and songwriter hit the stage with not one but two pianos, all while playing each with one hand.
Midway into her set, she focused on one piano and segued into her medley of chart-topping hits. First, Keys paid homage to Lauryn Hill by performing two of her classic records "Killing Me Softly" and "Doo-Wop (That Thing)." She also performed today's latest rap hits like Drake's "In My Feelings" and Juice Wrld's "Lucid Dreams." The singer then closed out with her chorus on Jay-Z's "Empire State of Mind."
Alicia Keys has a history of saluting young artists. At the beginning of 2019, Keys shared a video on Twitter of herself and her son Egypt playing a rendition of the late XXXTentacion's song “What Are You So Afraid Of,” off his posthumous Skins album. She even co-signed the fallen rapper's music in the comment section.
“Such a vibe!!" she wrote. "Big love to the talented @xxxtentacion !! Gone too soon.”
Although she meant well, her fans didn't like the idea of the singer vouching for the troubled rapper. The backlash was so bad that she ended up deleting the post.
