Childish Gambino and ‘Atlanta’ TV Series Nominated for 16 2018 Emmy Awards
It's no secret that Childish Gambino's FX series Atlanta has been a monumental hit, and that's now being reflected in the 2018 awards circuit as the show was nominated for 16 Emmys today (July 12), reports Billboard.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Atlanta itself was nominated for the Emmy for a Comedy Series. Donald Glover himself nabbed the Emmy nomination for Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for his role as Earn in the show, Brian Tyree Henry, who plays Glover's cousin Alfred (a.k.a. Paper Boi) was nominated for Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series, and Zazie Beets, who plays Van, Earn's co-parent and somewhat-girlfriend, was nominated for Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.
Atlanta is no stranger to the Emmy Awards. In 2017, Donald Glover took home awards for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series and Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series for the show. He also swept at the Golden Globes that year, where he won Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy and Atlanta also won Best Television Series in Comedy.
The 2018 Golden Globe Awards will kick off on Sunday, Sept. 17, at the Microsoft Theater in downtown Los Angeles. Colin Jost and Michael Che of Saturday Night Live will host the evening's festivities.
Best of luck to Childish Gambino and the Atlanta cast!
