Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine's HBO documentary will debut this summer. HBO officially announced that Defiant Ones will begin airing on July 9 at 9 p.m. EST. The announcement came after Dre teased news about the film earlier this week.

The four-part documentary, which is directed by Menace II Society's Allen Hughes, will tell the stories of Dre and Iovine's personal and working relationship. The series is set to explore a partnership that spawned successful entities such as Aftermath Entertainment and Beats Electronics.

“The Defiant Ones has everything you expect in a great story – drama and humor, tragedy and triumph,” Casey Bloys, the president of HBO Programming, said in a statement. “Allen Hughes takes you on a journey through some of the most important flash points of popular culture, and I’m delighted we can bring this unforgettable saga to our viewers.”

Hughes was able to film Dre and Iovine over the the course of the three years. The acclaimed director also got to interview stars such as Eminem, Nas, Ice Cube, Snoop Dogg, Trent Reznor, Gwen Stefani and Bono to add their perspectives to the story. Hughes even got his hands on previously unseen footage from the writing and recording sessions of Eazy-E, N.W.A, Stevie Nicks, Tom Petty and Bruce Springsteen.
