You don't know what you've got 'til it's gone. J.Cole, the North Carolina MC who climbed from a young college kid to an international superstar, has built up a reputation for both keeping his albums free of features and keeping his guest appearances scarce.

Starting in 2018, Cole made a conscious effort to hop on other artists' songs, landing on tracks with 21 Savage, Moneybagg Yo, Jay Rock and others. He built on that momentum in 2019 and kept the bars coming. Yet on Friday (Sept. 20), he announced that the feature run is coming to a close. There's no better time than now to commemorate what he's done throughout the year.

In the same year that Dreamville crafted and released the anticipated Revenge Of The Dreamers 3 compilation album, Cole worked over time to get verses rapped up for a variety of names in music. This year, he appeared on songs alongside Ty Dolla $ign, Offset, Young Thug and others, ending his streak of guest appearances on a high note by lending his talents to "Family And Loyalty," Gang Starr's first song in 16 years. While his subject matter varied across the tracks he graced, one thing's certain: he put up an all-star performance.

Look back on all of J. Cole's 2019 features, listed in chronological order, below (and reminisce on his 2018 guest appearances here).

  • "How Did I Get Here"

    Offset Featuring J. Cole

On this somber track off of Offset's debut solo album, Father Of 4, Cole and 'Set reflect on the rougher days, before they were rap stars.

  • "Purple Emoji"

Ty Dolla $ign Featuring J. Cole

This Ty Dolla $ign single is about deep, romantic love. Cole comes through with a verse where he references his wife and how much he appreciates her.

  • "The London"

Young Thug Featuring J. Cole and Travis Scott

Alongside Thugger and Travis Scott, J. Cole gets loose on the So Much Fun lead single, bragging and boasting more than usual.

  • "Prove It"

    Big K.R.I.T. Featuring J. Cole

Longtime friends K.R.I.T. and Cole link up once again on this album track on K.R.I.T. Iz Here. Cole's verse focuses on not wanting to lose his fans, while also showing love to one of his earliest ones.

  • "Family And Loyalty"

    Gang Starr Featuring J. Cole

On the first Gang Starr song in 16 years, J. Cole sounds like a natural on a Premo beat. His verse—on which he rhymes about uplifting the inner city and knowledge of self—is bookended by timeless Guru verses.
