Marvel Studios may be sitting out Comic-Con this year, but Iron Fist is not. The first trailer for Season 2 of the Marvel / Netflix series premiered online late last night following the panel in Hall H — where, in addition to unveiling a September 7 premiere date, the cast and crew confirmed that new co-star Alice Eve is playing a villain from the Daredevil comics.

I know we’re not the first to point this out, but Iron Fist Season 2 actually looks…kind of good? If nothing else, it’s destined to be a step-up from the underwhelming first season. The show’s cast and crew showed off a ton of footage from the upcoming season at Comic-Con last night, where they also confirmed that Alice Eve will be playing comic book character Typhoid Mary — a one-time love interest of Matt Murdock’s and a recurring villain.

In the second season of Iron Fist, Danny Rand (Finn Jones) will be something of a changed man after his big Defenders team-up with Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Matt Murdock — the latter of whom has inspired Danny to use his powers to fight crime. Clayton Barber, the fight choreographer on Marvel’s Black Panther, worked on Season 2 of Iron Fist, and based on the footage shown at Comic-Con, the action in this season is a marked improvement over the first.

We’ll find out for sure when Iron Fist Season 2 premieres on September 7.
