Flint's Washington Elementary will be closing their doors for good this week, and a local Walgreens has stepped up to help the graduating sixth graders remember their school.

The Walgreens on Dort and Davison adopted Washington Elementary a few years ago, and decided to buy the sixth graders yearbooks for them as a farewell gift.  Washington is one of the many Flint schools that are closing their doors due to budget cuts.

Walgreens raised $6,000 to purchase the yearbooks, and with Washington closing they have adopted Potter Elementary for next year.

This kind of commitment to community support is the key to turning our city around.  Walgreens is showing Flint the way to fix our city by not just supporting the students, but by choosing to adopt another school afterwards.

Thank you to Walgreens on Dort and Davison!  You are a perfect example of what everyone should be doing.
