In honor of National Distracted Driving Awareness Month (April), Michigan State Police and local police departments including Grand Blanc are going to participate in a four-hour distracted driving enforcement and awareness initiative.

The crackdown will take place Thursday, April 7.

This is something that should be happening a little more often. It's insane how many people I still see every day on the road with their faces buried in their phones. Just the other day, I was driving home from work and a lady in front of me was all over the road, I thought for sure she was drunk. I finally got up beside her at a light and quickly realized she wasn't drunk at all, she's was on social media. It was clear as day that she was scrolling through Instagram. I couldn't believe it.

A Nostalgic Look Back Inside the Infamous Auker Mansion of Grand Blanc

The big house with the large gates on Belsay Road in Grand Blanc, Michigan has been as mysterious as the man who built the massive 14,000+ square foot home that resembled more of a palace than a Midwest home. The late builder Eldon Auker was known for his creativity and flamboyance on some levels, his mansion reflected every bit of that. With its 20 foot ceilings, majestic staircase, and a 3000 square foot bedroom, the home was a showplace. Sold in 2020, it's hard to know if changes were made to the once amazing estate, but it's exciting to be able to take a little look back in time to what once was.
