Discover This One Of A Kind Michigan Only Sandwich
Michigan is known for many things, and unique foods are included on that list.
Think Coney dogs, pasties, olive burgers, Detroit-style pizza, and Bumpy Cake, just to name a few.
One delicious sandwich that needs to be added to that list is served in Lansing, Flint, Grand Blanc, Owosso, Clio, Burton, Davison, and Saginaw.
Altogether, this unique, Michigan-only sandwich shop has 15 locations. John E. Klobucar opened the first one in 1972 on Dort Highway near Court Street in Flint, and it's still operating today.
If you live in the Mid-Michigan area (or used to), you have probably already guessed that I am talking about Big John Steak & Onion. And if so, you're correct.
There is nothing like an original steak and onion sub from Big John's. The sandwich is described on the menu as follows,
The original Steak sandwich is 100% ribeye steak, thinly sliced, grilled with or without onions, seasoned to perfection, and piled on a fresh Italian Sub Roll.
Absolute perfection. Feel free to add yellow peppers and cheese too, but don't you dare forget about Big John's Original Red Sauce. It is a must!
The Original Big John's Red Sauce is so good that when I order a steak salad at Big John's Steak & Onion, I use it as the dressing.
Did you know you can even buy bottles of this signature sauce on Amazon? You can!
A Big John Steak & Onion sandwich is Pure Michgian, and worth the drive from anywhere in the Great Lakes State to enjoy one.
Lucky for me, I don't have far to go!
