Here we go again with another major Michigan retailer going out of business and closing its doors at all its stores for good. We had a feeling this was coming after we reported in November that the discount retail chain was shuttering even more locations following earlier closures this year.

2024 felt like a year of never-ending closures, with one after another affecting everything from local businesses to major national chains. From retail to the food industry, it was a tough year all around.

It's time for customers to say goodbye to yet another major retailer, as one major company closes its doors for good after a rough year of closures and failed attempts to turn things around.

What Major Discount Retailer is Going Out of Business?

According to several sources, including Fast Company, after a rough 2024 filled with store closures and desperate attempts to sell the company, Big Lots has officially announced it’s throwing in the towel—every store is closing, and they’re going out of business.

This time around, it's not just a few stores here and there closing—it's every store, including the 32 that remain in Michigan.

Why is Big Lots Going Out of Business?

Big Lots has been struggling big time in 2024, with inflation taking a huge toll on profits and forcing customers to cut back on the kind of spending that keeps Big Lots in business.

If you're a Big Lots shopper and you love a good sale, get ready—huge going-out-of-business sales will be coming soon to all locations.
