Krave Restaurant in Lapeer Offers Help to SNAP Families in Need
Krave Restaurant in Lapeer is offering a helping hand - or, in this case, a meal - to local families who will lose their SNAP benefits in Michigan during the government shutdown.
Owner Tim Ostrom has made Krave into a destination restaurant for Lapeer County residents and visitors from beyond. The restaurant is known for its all-day brunch, welcoming family atmosphere, and community-focused programs, including the popular ‘kids eat free’ initiative.
To support families in Lapeer who rely on SNAP, Tim Ostrom and the Krave team are offering one free meal per child per day beginning Saturday, November 1st, 2025.
Eligibility for SNAP meals for children at Krave Restaurant is as follows:
- Offer for residents in the 48446 zip code only.
- Carry-out only. If you choose to dine in, kids eat free with the purchase of an adult entrée as part of Krave's current promotion.
- Must provide proof of a SNAP benefits card.
- One meal per child per day.
- Limited kids' menu (to be posted on Saturday, November 1st, 2025).
Krave included the following message on Facebook,
We wish we could feed the entire state, but, simply cannot. We urge you to speak to your communities, restaurants, and businesses, and ask them to follow our lead if you fall outside of our zip code requirement.
Kin Thai Cuisine in Lapeer is also offering a complimentary vegetable fried rice for children, November 1st, 2025, through November 8th, 2025.
Additional Lapeer County restaurants that have made it a mission to help out SNAP families in need include Woodchips BBQ in partnership with Lightning Rounds, and Kookys N Cream.
