Kum & Go is coming to Michigan. The popular Midwestern convenience store chain will be opening stores in Detroit and Grand Rapids in 2024. Future plans include additional 50-plus stores in the Great Lakes State.

The first thing people notice about Kum & Go is the name. If you think the name sounds inappropriate, there is actually a logical explanation for it. It is a play on the phrase "come and go" using the initials of founders Bill Krause and Tony Gentle.

The store is more than your typical gas station. Kum & Go is known for its fresh pizza, baked goods, and made-to-order sandwiches. They stock a wide range of healthy food options too and guests can also purchase craft beer and wine. Talk about one-stop shopping.

What may actually be the best part of Kum & Go is the store's wearables and swag. From hats to T-shirts, to drink cups - any item with the K&G name and logo is a hot seller.

The Detroit area and Grand Rapids are a great start, and hopefully with the additional 50-plus stores in the works, at least one (if not more) open in Genesee County and Lapeer County.
