Michigan Health Officials Issue Measles Exposure Alert
If you were in an Oakland County ER recently, this is one you should probably read.
According to Fox 2 Detroit, health officials say a child in Oakland County had measles, and anyone who was at the ER at DMC Huron Valley Sinai Hospital on December 7 between 7:20 and 11:10 p.m. could have been exposed.
Measles spreads incredibly easily. The virus can stay in the air for up to two hours after an infected person leaves the room. And here’s the kicker. You don’t even need direct contact to be exposed.

People who need to be extra cautious include unvaccinated young kids, pregnant women, and, honestly, anyone with a weakened immune system.
If symptoms pop up, don’t just show up at urgent care or the ER. Call ahead so staff can take precautions and protect other patients.
Health officials say the most recent measles cases in Michigan have been tied to travel and crowded places. Their advice is pretty simple. Make sure your MMR vaccine is up to date, especially if you’re traveling or spending time in busy holiday settings.
One more thing. People born before 1957 are generally considered immune.
