Gratiot Avenue in Detroit between East Grand Boulevard and 7 Mile is considered the deadliest five-mile stretch in the state.  According to MoneyGeek, there have been 11 fatal crashes on this busy highway road between 2017 and 2019. While that might not seem like a lot of fatalities to some people, it really is when you factor in the fact that the stretch of road only takes roughly eight minutes to drive.

The majority of accidents on Gratiot Avenue take place at intersections.

There is a lot of Traffic moving on Gratiot Avenue between East Grand Boulevard and 7 Mile, but heavy traffic isn't the leading cause of accidents. Speed, distracted driving, alcohol, and weather also play a major role.

While this stretch is very dangerous, it's not the most dangerous in the country.

The most dangerous road in America is US-19 in Pasco County, Florida. Many of the fatalities on US-19 involve pedestrians. According to Vox, 48 people have been killed in car crashes that involved pedestrians on US-19 in Pasco County between 2017 and June 2022.
