A New Tiki Bar Is About to Open in Michigan
Who doesn’t love a good tiki bar in Michigan? Especially in the dead of winter when everyone is itching for island vibes and anything that doesn’t involve snow boots.
A New Tiki Bar Is Opening in Ann Arbor
Ann Arbor is getting a new tiki bar, and it’s opening sooner than you think. According to MLive, Hunā is set to open in the basement of Echelon Kitchen and Bar on South Main Street.
The whole idea is simple. Escape. Walk in from brutal Michigan winter temps and feel like you just landed somewhere tropical. Think rum forward cocktails, classic tiki drinks with a modern twist, and a space designed to feel like a beach hut instead of downtown Ann Arbor.

The drink menu leans heavily into rum, with familiar tiki favorites like a mai tai and a few creative spins you don’t usually see around here.
The food menu also matches the vibe with things like poke, bao buns, Galbi ribs, peanut noodle salad, and tasty desserts that make you feel like you're on vacation.
When Does Hunā Open in Ann Arbor?
Hunā is scheduled to open on Thursday, February 12. It’s located beneath Echelon Kitchen and Bar in downtown Ann Arbor and will have its own separate entrance.

Bottom line. If you’re tired of winter, snow, and gray skies, this might be the closest thing to a Michigan getaway without booking a flight.
