Davison Elementary One Of 12 Michigan National Blue Ribbon Schools

A new school year is officially underway and that means teachers and administrators are back at it doing what they love and trying to make a difference at the same time. Every year, schools across the nation strive for excellence, working tirelessly to create environments where students can thrive academically and personally.

Each year the U.S. Department of Education recognizes the most outstanding schools that consistently set high standards and push their students to achieve their best naming them National Blue Ribbon Schools.  Since 1982, the U.S. Department of Education has spotlighted schools that are demonstrating that all students can achieve high levels.

“The National Blue Ribbon Schools Award is a testament to the exceptional achievements of students and educators at each of these schools,” said U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona in a press release. “The 2024 National Blue Ribbon Schools are raising the bar for our nation’s students, serving as models for effective teaching and intentional collaboration in their schools and communities. As we celebrate their achievements, let us look to these schools for inspiration as we champion education as the foundation of a brighter future for every child.”

Among the 353 schools recognized this year, 12 are from Michigan, with one being right here in Genesee County. Davison's Hill Elementary is the proud representative of Genesee County on the exclusive list for 2024.

• Belmont – Chandler Woods Charter Academy, Chandler Woods Charter Academy.
• Dearborn Heights – Dearborn STEM Middle School, Dearborn City School District.
• Detroit – Pembroke Academy, Pembroke Academy.
• Grand Haven – Rosy Mound Elementary School, Grand Haven Area Public Schools.
• Hughes Elementary School, Marshall Public Schools.
• Northville – Moraine Elementary School, Northville Public Schools.
• Pellston – Pellston Elementary School, Pellston Public Schools.
• Rockford – Meadow Ridge Elementary School, Rockford Public Schools.
• Saginaw – Handley Elementary School, Saginaw Public School District.
• Spring Lake – Lake Hills Elementary School, Grand Haven Area Public Schools.
• Troy – Hamilton Elementary School, Troy School District.

Each nominated school submitted a comprehensive application detailing its school culture, programs, assessments, instructional practices, professional development, leadership, family, and community involvement.  According to the press release, up to 420 schools may be nominated yearly.
