Detroit Tigers Fans Reveal Their Game Day Beer and Hot Dog Habits
You know baseball isn't just about the game. It's about the whole experience. The parking lot, the hot dogs, and the overpriced beer. And apparently, Tigers fans have that routine down to a science.

A new survey from Action Network of nearly 3,500 Major League Baseball fans looked at how much each fan base eats and drinks during games, and Detroit landed right in the middle of the pack, but with some pretty fun numbers.
How Much Do Detroit Tigers Fans Eat and Drink During Games?
The average Tigers fan reportedly has one drink before first pitch, then knocks back another 1.8 drinks during the game. That means the typical Detroit fan enjoys about 2.8 alcoholic drinks over the course of a trip to Comerica Park. Around 65% of Tigers fans say they have at least one drink during the game, while fewer than 7% admit to putting away five or more.

And let's be honest, what good is a baseball game without a hot dog? The survey found Tigers fans eat an average of 1.6 hot dogs per game, with more than 41% grabbing at least two, and about 12% going for three or more. That's enough to put Detroit right around the MLB average when it comes to stadium food.
How Many Calories Does a Day at Comerica Park Add Up To?
When researchers added up the calories from the drinks and hot dogs, Tigers fans were estimated to consume about 900 calories every game day. If someone somehow kept those exact habits for all 81 home games, it would total roughly 72,900 calories over the season. Before anybody panics, the researchers stress that's just a fun mathematical illustration, not a prediction of actual weight gain.

So while Tigers fans may not be leading baseball in beer or hot dog consumption, we're apparently doing exactly what baseball was designed for: enjoying a couple of drinks, grabbing a dog or two, and settling in for nine innings at the ballpark. Go Tigers!
