Michigan Woman Asked ChatGPT for Powerball Numbers and It Paid Off Big
When the Powerball jackpot climbed past $1 billion last month, a Michigan woman decided to take a shot at it. But instead of picking her own numbers, she turned to ChatGPT for help. The result? A $100,000 winning ticket from the Michigan Lottery.
Tammy Carvey from Wyandotte matched four white balls and the Powerball in the September 6 Powerball drawing to win $50,000. Thanks to the Power Play multiplier she added, her prize doubled to $100,000.
How ChatGPT Picked Her Numbers
Carvey and I have something in common: we only play Powerball when the jackpot gets big. Last month, after the prize went unclaimed for several weeks, she tried an unconventional method to pick her numbers — she turned to artificial intelligence.
“I only play Powerball when the jackpot gets up there and the jackpot was over $1 billion so I bought a ticket,” Carvey said. “I asked ChatGPT for a set of Powerball numbers, and those are the numbers I played on my ticket."
Carvey went on to say that she got another surprise when she checked her ticket against the winning numbers.
"I saw I matched four white balls and the Powerball and knew I had to have won something. Google told me it was a $50,000 prize, so that’s what I thought I’d won," she said. "It wasn’t until I logged into my Michigan Lottery account that I realized I added the Power Play to my ticket and actually won $100,000! My husband and I were in total disbelief.”
What She Plans to Do With the Winnings
Carvey says she plans to use her winnings to pay off her house and save the rest.
