Single Digits and Subzero Wind Chills as Arctic Front Slams Michigan
If you’re anything like me and think winter is nature’s least funny joke, you’re not going to love what’s heading our way. An Arctic blast is set to bulldoze its way into Michigan late Wednesday night into Thursday, and forecasters say this is about to be the coldest air we’ve dealt with so far this season.
The Coldest Air of the Season Arrives
We’re talking daytime highs on Thursday that won’t even crack 20 degrees across much of Michigan’s interior. Along the lakeshore you might get a few pity degrees, but nothing that’s going to make you put away turn on the A/C. And the overnight temps? Teens. Single digits. Wind chills below zero across southern Michigan. Honestly, at this point, I’m considering hibernation.

Meteorologists say this frigid air is courtesy of a shift in the Polar Vortex, which is basically sending us its worst mood. According to weather experts, this isn’t even the only one. This is just round one of three Arctic blasts expected over the next couple of weeks. Just what we needed.
More Arctic Blasts Expected in the Coming Weeks
And the cold isn’t coming alone. We could see bursts of accumulating snow, maybe even a few squalls if the winds really kick up. The snowfall might be brief and spotty, but a couple of inches can still make the roads slick fast, so take it easy out there.
