After closing nearly two dozen bank branches in 2024, Citizens Bank is preparing to shutter more locations in early 2025.

Following the lead of Huntington National Bank, Bank of America, PNC, and several others that closed numerous branches in 2024, Citizens is announcing another round of cuts in January next year.

What Citizens Bank Branches Are Closing?

According to filings with the US Office of Comptroller of the Currency, Citizens Financial Group Inc. plans to close 15 branches in six states, as specified below.

  • Pennsylvania:  Closing six branches
  • Massachusetts:  Closing four branches
  • Michigan:  Closing two branches
  • New Hampshire:  Closing one branch
  • Ohio:  Closing one branch
  • Rhode Island:  Closing one branch

While the exact date of the demise of these branches is unclear, Providence Business News reports that the aforementioned Rhode Island location will close on January 22, 2025.

According to Citizens Bank's website, there are 67 bank locations in 42 cities throughout Michigan. The location of the two Michigan branches slated to close in 2025 has not yet been released.

The Citizens Bank location in Grosse Pointe Woods, located at 19307 Mack Avenue was closed earlier this year.

Earlier this year, several national bank chains announced that numerous bank branches throughout the US would be shuttered. That list of banks includes:

  • PNC Bank, NA
  • US Bank, NA
  • Bank of America, NA
  • First national Bank of Pennyslvania
  • Huntington National Bank
  • Capital One, NA
  • Fifth Third Bank, NA
  • JP Morgan Chase Bank, NA
  • KeyBank, NA
  • Woodforest National Bank
  • Wells Fargo Bank

About 20,000 bank branches have been closed since 2009 according to the FDIC.

Remembering the Grand Opening of AutoWorld in Flint, Michigan

A short-lived Six Flags theme park, AutoWorld was supposed to be a tourist destination in Flint. Sadly, after several starts and stops, AutoWorld was imploded in early 1997. The land is now owned by University of Michigan-Flint and is home to the William S White Building.

You'd think an appearance on a national TV show like Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives or Restaurant: Impossible would guarantee success for a restaurant.
