JAY-Z continues to deliver powerful visuals from his platinum album, 4:44. His latest visual is a short film for the album’s title track, which is arguably his most candid song on the project.

The film opens to a young man singing Nina Simone’s song “Feeling Good,” which was sampled on his Watch the Throne album, “New Day.” It then segues to Eartha Kitt who talks about comprising in a relationship. From there we get various images, interviews and footage all depicting the emotional attachments to love, including joy, heartbreak, reconciliation and violence. We also see JAY and Beyoncé performing “Drunk in Love” in much happier times. The film ends with a gorgeous shot of a smiling Blue Ivy.

Overall, the “4:44” short film is left to the viewer to interpret its poignant message. You will have to rewind this clip a couple of times to absorb all of it.

JAY-Z’s short film follows his animated black-and-white visual for “Story of O.J.” In addition, videos for “Adnis,” “Kill JAY-Z” and “MaNyfaCedGod” have reportedly been shot and ready for release.

JAY-Z’s 4:44 is currently available on all streaming platforms except for Spotify.
