Jim Jones Arrested on Gun and Drug Charges Following Police Chase

Another Dipset member has landed in legal trouble. Jim Jones was arrested for drug and firearm-related charges after a brief police chase in Coweta County, Georgia on Wednesday (June 20).

According to a police report provided to XXL by the Coweta County Sheriff's Office, Investigator Jeremy Wood conducted a traffic stop of a Mercedes SUV after allegedly smelling marijuana and observing multiple dangerous lane-changes on Interstate 85. The SUV briefly accelerated away from two officers in pursuit, and at one point crashed into one of their police vehicles, before the driver and three passengers, including Jones, got out of the car.

Police searched the SUV and found two pistols, one of which was reported stolen in March. They also recovered two pill bottles containing 31 total oxycodone pills, as well as multiple containers of marijuana, a rolled "marijuana cigar," and three vaporizers containing THC oil, according to the report.

Jones denied any knowledge of the two firearms. He also denied owning any of the marijuana, but admitted one of the pill bottles belonged to him, for which he claimed he has a prescription. He also claimed his female companion was the driver of the car and that he told her to pull over, but she was acting "incoherent," according to the Newnan Times-Herald. 

The "We Fly High" rapper's charges include narcotics possession, marijuana possession, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and theft by receiving stolen property. He was booked into Coweta County Jail early Thursday morning after a brief stint in a local hospital.

Jones, Cam'ron, Juelz Santana and Freekey Zekey were scheduled to kick off their Dipset Forever Tour in Hampton, New Hampshire today (June 21). The much-hyped reunion was already expected to be disrupted by Santana's legal situation, following the rapper's arrest in March for possession of a firearm and a controlled substance.

Last week, a judge ruled that Santana could travel to the first five shows, while stipulating that Juelz must wear an ankle monitor and be accompanied by his mother. Jones' fate remains unclear.
