City of Lies, a film starring Johnny Depp, which explores the unsolved murder of The Notorious B.I.G., has reportedly been pulled from release just a month before it was set to debut, The Hollywood Reporter reveals in an Aug. 6 report.

The movie, which was previously titled LAbyrinth, has been the subject of serious scrutiny over the last few months. Back in May, it was revealed that Depp, who was set to play LAPD detective Russell Poole in the film, allegedly attacked a crew member while on set.

As previously reported, a location manager told Depp that they needed to wrap up a scene, which didn't go over well with the embattled actor. He allegedly punched and screamed at the location manager, saying, "Who the fuck are you? You have no right to tell me what to do." Depp also reportedly told the crew member he would pay him $10,000 to punch him in the face.

Although the movie's director Brad Furman downplayed the incident at the time, calling it "exaggerated," the crew member later sued Depp for unspecified damages.

City of Lies, which was also set to star Academy Award winner Forest Whitaker, received an action-packed trailer earlier this year, and many rap fans were looking forward to seeing one of the greatest, and most tragic, unsolved hip-hop murder mysteries come to life on the big screen yet again.

Many films and television shows throughout the years have explored both The Notorious B.I.G. and Tupac Shakur's murders, and still, more than 20 years later, they remain unresolved.
