Logic's most recent album, Everybody, is his most successful project to date, fueled by the hit single, "1-800-273-8255," but let the Maryland rapper tell it, the LP almost didn't get made out of fear. According to Lo, it took a conversation with Run The Jewels MC, Killer Mike for him to realize his mission.

Logic recently sat down for an interview with Beat 1 Radio's Zane Lowe, where he talked about the crossroads he was at during points in the process of putting together the album.

"I was really scared to make this album, and to make this song," he told Lowe about touching on serious topics in his music. "Because I didn't want to talk about it. For me, it's even deeper than just '1-800,' Everybody as a whole...I was terrified."

He added, "I felt like I had all this power and voice. And I want to say something about [Black Lives Matter], and about women who are being sexually abused and assaulted and people's mental health, and anxiety and depression. There's people saying this shit, but not on like a mainstream level. And I was like I want to do that."

Logic says he called Killer to get his perspective, and he got the solid advice he needed to push on. "[Killer Mike] was like, 'Brother, you have to do what you have to do.' He said, 'You can not be scared to make an album that is preaching about love and equality and the acceptance of one another based on the opinions of other people.' He's like, 'You can't let them stop you.'"

Good words from a wise man. And the rest is history.
