A Tribe Called Quest finished off their 2016 strong, as they just dropped their final album, We Got It From Here, Thank You For Your Service, which went no. 1 on the charts. The group has been mourning the death of their late member, Phife Dawg, who passed away due to health complications from diabetes earlier in the year. Although he may not be with us anymore, fans will still be excited to know how his legacy will continue to live on.

According to his widow, Desha Head Taylor, the Queens MC reportedly finished his own solo album just before he passed away. Taylor revealed the news that it could potentially drop in 2017 during a press conference before the ceremony that unveiled the street sign named after him.

She told the press, "His solo album will be out probably sometime during the first quarter of 2017. We’re working on it now. He completed his entire solo album before he transitioned, so we’re excited about releasing that."

Although he was in the music game for over two decades, Phife Dawg never actually released a solo project for fans. Some believed that he would be dropping his own music after the breakup of Tribe in the early 2000's, but he unfortunately remained a bit more quiet on the rap front. Earlier this year, fans got a taste of what to expect on his upcoming solo album, as "Nutshell" dropped, which was produced by the late J Dilla.
