Run The Jewels Deliver Politically-Charged ‘Legend Has It’ Video [WATCH]

When it comes to music videos, Run The Jewels are known for shocking the senses. In their new visual for “Legend Has It,” El-P and Killer Mike are in a police lineup with various misfits while trying to avoid getting trap into the criminal justice system. Oh, and the acid they just dropped isn’t helping their state of mind, either.

Throughout the clip, the viewers are fed the rising statistics of mass incarceration in the U.S. as El-P and Killer Mike spit their fiery rhymes in the lineup along with innocence people like a nun, an Asian schoolgirl, a German Shepard and a blind man. In the end, the video is a social commentary on the in-justice system when it comes to people of color.

“The video for ‘Legend Has It’ plays with the theme of guilty until proven innocent," says the video's director Brian Beletic. "We live in a world where the stronger the truth the greater the opposition."

"[For Run the Jewels] this video is a worst nightmare scenario. High on acid and caught in the system. Pitted against icons of innocence in a police line up that doesn't feel real," he continues. "No bunnies were hurt in the making of this video.”
