Senators Debate Over Whether They Should Retweet Cardi B’s Video About The Government Shutdown
Cardi B's views on President Trump and the government shutdown have apparently grabbed the attention of her fans and elected U.S. senators alike.
After she called out the President for refusing to pay federal workers in an Instagram video on Wednesday (Jan. 16), the "Money" rapper's views went so viral that they even caught the attention of three Democratic senators Brian Schatz (Hawaii) and Chris Murphy (Connecticut) debated whether or not to retweet Bardi's video on Twitter.
“Trying to decide whether or not to retweet the Cardi B video,” wrote Schatz. “OMG, I had the same argument with myself 30 minutes ago!” responded Murphy.
As if that interaction wasn’t already mind-blowing enough, the debate expanded when Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer chimed in with his thoughts on the matter. Surprisingly, Schumer was so interested in the exchange that he was anticipating both Schatz and Murphy's moves.
“Guys, I’m still holding my breath. Are you gonna RT Cardi B or not?” Schumer tweeted.
It’s easy to see why Cardi B’s video caught their attention. In the clip, Bardi spoke her piece about how serious the government shutdown is, and blamed it on our polarizing Commander-in-Chief.
"Trump is now ordering federal government workers to go back to work without getting paid," the Bronx native said."I don't wanna hear y'all muthafuckas talking about, 'Oh, Obama shut down the government for 17 days,' yeah bitch, for federal healthcare. So your grandma could check her blood pressure and you bitches could go check your pussies at gynecologists with no muthafuckin' problem. Now, I know a lot of y'all don't care 'cause y'all don't work for the government or y'all don't have a job. But this shit is really fuckin' serious bro. This shit is crazy. Our country is in a hell hole right now. We really need to take this shit serious."
As of press time, neither senators have shared her video. Check out the U.S. Senators' exchange below. See Cardi's government shutdown-addressing video beneath the tweets.
