Slick Rick to Release 30th Anniversary Collector’s Edition of Debut Album ‘The Great Adventures of Slick Rick’
Earlier today (Nov. 2), the chain-toting veteran rapper revealed he will be releasing a deluxe collector's edition of his 1988 magnum opus. The project is set to feature previously unreleased material, including “Snakes of the World Today,” which didn’t make the original project’s tracklisting but was created during the same sessions. He will also be dropping the presumably more up-to-date song “Can't Dance to a Track That Ain't Got No Soul,” which marks his first new track since 1999.
The previously released song “Snakes of the World” is now available on streaming, while The Ruler’s new single will be exclusive to those who purchase the anniversary collection.
The Bronx transplant’s seminal masterpiece will be rereleased by Def Jam, in partnership with Urban Legends and UMe. Back in the 80s, Slick Rick signed with Def Jam, becoming the legendary label’s third-ever artist.
The special edition collection will include both digital and physical formats and will be released on Feb. 22, 2019, with deluxe and standard vinyl LP editions making their debut on March 15, 2019.
The 30th Anniversary deluxe edition is available for pre-order. Take a listen to Slick Rick’s new single below.
