The 2016 Emmys have arrived at last, hosted by none other than Jimmy Kimmel himself, and the competition is refreshingly tense this year. Will The People v. O.J. Simpson blow FX counterpart Fargo out of the water? What about The Americans’ first big competition, or Mr. Robot’s chances? It might surprise you to learn that Amy Poehler had never won an Emmy before last night, but less so that she’d make history doing it. Ahead of the full ceremony next Sunday, Amy Poehler and Tina Fey both took home Emmy awards for their SNL hosting, and made history in the process.

The fine folk at Honest Trailers rarely get into the TV game (even less often double-dipping), but suffice to say, certain series might take years to make the rotation. No longer, as all the major Emmy 2016 contenders, from The Americans to Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt get their own mini trailer parodies!

Boy, that was quick. 2016 Emmy nominees were announced this morning, and special presenters Lauren Graham and (a very excitable) Anthony Anderson wasted no time in revealing this year’s crop of nominees. While there was rightfully plenty of love to go around for dramas like The People v. O.J. Simpson and Mr. Robot, and comedy faves Veep and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, there were a few disappointments — namely, where the hell is UnREAL?! Or The Leftovers? Come on, Emmys.

Seeing as the Emmy awards rotate broadcast networks from year to year, it seemed likely that Jimmy Kimmel might suit up to host the awards once the wheel landed on ABC. Good guess, everyone! The network has officially confirmed that the Jimmy Kimmel Live! host will don his tux later this year.

At last year’s Emmys, Jimmy Kimmel sent a message to Tracy Morgan, who had been hospitalized in a coma following a traffic accident that killed one of Morgan’s friends and fellow comedians. “Shout out to Tracy Morgan, we’ll see you next year, Tracy,” Kimmel told the audience at the time. Almost one year later, Morgan made good on Kimmel’s promise and surprised the Emmys crowd as he arrived on stage to present the final award of the night for Best Drama Series to a standing ovation from the crowd.

Lady Gaga, Taraji P. Henson, Lena Headey, and more stunned on the red carpet this evening.

The 2015 Emmys are upon us, hosted by Brooklyn Nine-Nine star and SNL alum Andy Samberg, and the competition is arrestingly steep. Will this be Mad Men‘s year? What about Tatiana Maslany?
