It is really sad to report that two people are presumed dead after jumping into a icy river for a cellphone. The freezing temperatures in the Chicago River took the lives of two young adults. Awarding them the idiots of the day would be harsh but I did think about it.

A 26 year old unidentified Minnesota man accidentally dropped in cell in the river while walking near the river-walk with two friends. Immediately he lunged after his phone which landed him in the freezing body of water.

Two of his friends jumped in the river to save him but were unsuccessful.  The cellphone owner body was found dead and the 21 year old female friend body hasn't been found and presumed dead.  The 23 year old male friend who jumped into the river to save his friend, is currently in the hospital in stable conditions.

I feel extremely sad about this incident.  A cellphone is not that important and can be easily replaced.  Jumping into freezing water near Chicago should never be attempted unless you're a professional diver.  Two people have lost their lives over a cellphone.  We have to make better choices.
