Excited about the new Wiz Khalifa single? So is he, which his why the ‘Black and Yellow’ superstar has decided that he will perform his recent single ‘Word Hard, Play Hard’ for us all at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards in Universal City, Calif.

It was recently announced that the 24-year-old hitmaker will be the first performer at the awards ceremony, starting off a list of fantastic performances. The single, which has already left fans waiting in anticipation for the new album and is basically claimed an Internet hit, has never been heard on live television before. Judging from his performances in the past, we can be certain that this one will leave us even more so excited for the upcoming album.

The single, ‘Work Hard, Play Hard’, will be included on the album ‘O.N.I.F.C.,’ which was produced by Benny Blanco and StarGate. It is due to be released this coming summer. Seeming that the “work hard” part of Khalifa’s album (i.e. the recording process) is finished, he’s readying up for the heavily reckoned “play hard” part (i.e. the performances). Afterall, Wiz was recently named one of the co-headliners for the highly-anticipated Rock the Bells Festival, which hits both coasts.

The 21st annual MTV Movie Awards airs on June 3 with comedian and actor Russell Brand taking on the role of the evening’s host.
