Young Thug, Birdman May Be Charged in Shooting of Lil Wayne's Bus

Trouble may be brewing for Young Thug and Birdman. According to WSB-TV's Mike Petchenick, the Cobb County District Attorney may charge Thugger and Birdman for their role in the 2015 shooting of Lil Wayne's tour bus.

If you remember, Thug's former manager PeeWee Roscoe was sentenced to 10 years in prison and 10 years of probation in 2015 after he pleaded guilty to six of the 27 counts he faced in relation to the shooting. Nearly two months after his sentencing, Roscoe appealed the sentence, arguing that he was pressured or coerced into a guilty plea.

Roscoe, real name Jimmy Winfrey, eventually had his conviction overturned, but now, the driver of the bus is suing Roscoe, as well as Thug and Birdman, alleging that the two conspired in the shooting. In court documents filed by the driver's lawyer, Jeff Gewirtz, phone records show that Thugger called Roscoe eight times in 12 minutes leading up to the shooting.

The attorney also obtained a prison phone call between Birdman and Roscoe, where Birdman could be heard saying, “Time for you to come out here and get your money. You did everything you could do boss ... it’s eye-opening. (It's) strictly business, man.”

When asked for a statement by XXL, Young Thug's team declined to comment. Birdman's team has yet to respond to the request.

According to lawyer Manny Arora, who represented Roscoe during the first trial, the civil suit filed by the bus driver is simply a money grab. “This is just a bus driver looking to get paid and they need a deep pocket so if you connect Mr. Winfrey to other musicians or executives, that makes it a viable case for them,” he said.

The District Attorney's office will now reportedly decide in the "next few weeks" if they will charge Thugger and Birdman for the shooting.
