The 2014 BET Hip-Hop Awards featured an impressive line-up of performances in Atlanta on Saturday (Sept. 20). Among the rappers that hit the stage included Common, T.I., YG, Ty Dolla $ign, Baby, Young Thug, Rich Homie Quan, Bobby Shmurda and more.

Rap newbies Rae Sremmurd kicked off the show with an energetic performance of 'No Flex Zone.'

That was followed by a powerful and thought-provoking set by Common, Vince Staples and Jay Electronica who teamed up to performed The 'Kingdom (Remix).' Backed by a gospel choir, the rap trifecta relayed their socially-conscious lyrics to remind the audience that the search for justice still continues. Following their performance, the parents of Mike Brown, the young teen who was shot and killed by a white police officer in Ferguson, Mo., appeared onstage. All together, they held a moment of silence in remembrance of the slain teen by raising their hands in the air.

Another endearing moment on the show came when Brandy reunited with Queen Latifah, MC Lyte and Yo-Yo to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their 'I Wanna Be Down' (Hip-Hop Remix). Brandy was 15 years old when the song was released back in September 1994. Today, she's a veteran R&B songbird who is still star struck by her female peers in hip-hop.

"Dear God, thank you for this moment!" Brandy tweeted after the performance with Latifah adding, "Tonight was mad real."
