The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services has issued a warning to those in Flint regarding the damages and dangers of Legionnaires' Disease.

Flint residents not only have to worry about lead in the water, but now that Spring is right around the corner the people of Flint now have to be on the look out for an increased chance of catching Legionnaires' disease.

Here is the official statement from the MDHHS...

While Legionnaires’ disease can happen at any time of the year, it is more common during warmer months when temperatures are ideal for growth of the bacteria that cause this disease (Legionella).  That is why more people tend to get Legionnaires’ disease in the summer and fall.

Legionnaires' disease is a  pneumonia caused by legionella bacteria. Adults 50 and older and people with weak immune systems are most at risk. From June 2014 - October 2015 there were 87 confirmed cases of the deadly Legionnaires' disease. Nine people have died in Genesee County from Legionnaires' disease.
