BP is at the center of another costly oil spill, only this one is a little closer to home as they dumped crude oil into Lake Michigan.

BP confirmed that on Monday crude oil was leaked into Lake Michigan from a refinery in Whiting, Indiana.  They did not say how much oil was let loose into the lake, or for how long the leak took place.

BP has started the clean up process, but Lake Michigan supplies the drinking water for more than 7 Million people in that area.  Here is a map of exactly where the spill took place.

The Coast Guard has joined BP in trying to clean up the oil, and investigating why the spill occurred in the first place.

This is the second major oil spill for BP recently and we are starting to wonder if there are any more that we don't hear about.  With the water levels and purity of our Great Lakes already at risk, this is the last thing we need.
