Bruno Mars Dedicates Ohio Concert to 11 Year Old Girl Who Survives Near Fatal Car Crash

Zumya and her sister survived a near fatal car crash which killed her two younger siblings and her pregnant mother.  Zumya suffered a traumatic brain injury and each night while in the hospital, staff and family would play her favorite song, 'When I Was Your Man' by Bruno Mars. The doctors didn't think she would survive.

When the doctors checked her speaking skills during recovery, she was able to sing her favorite songs by Bruno Mars.  Basically, the music helped her speak and sing again.

“I am absolutely convinced that singing those Bruno Mars songs and being able to say ‘Bruno Mars’ is in itself a miracle,” said Nancy Bass, Zumyah’s neurologist, “and knowing all the words to the songs has helped her recover.”
