Consequence is taking it back to the old school. The Queens rapper recaptures a vintage hip-hop sound with his new single "Ask Somebody" by sampling The Whole Darn Family's "Seven Minutes of Funk." The self-produced track features the vocals of Ty Dolla Sign and a verse from G-Unit member Tony Yayo.

The song will appear on Consequence's upcoming EP titled Growing Up In New York which is scheduled to drop on Aug. 19. The project is set to showcase the rapper's development as a producer, a new mantle he's taken on in his career. Cons previously gave fans a preview of the EP back in May when he released the song "Killer" featuring Brand Nubian members Sadat X and Lord Jamar. The EP's lead single "Hear to the Throne" arrived this past April and feature some raps by his son Caiden.

Consequence is not the artist involved in this song with a new project on the way. Ty Dolla Sign is set to release his Beach House 3 mixtape later this year. The former XXL Freshman teased the tape in June with a simple Instagram message.

"Wait till y’all find out who this is on the left," he wrote. "Me and @shawnbarron cookin just know. #bh3 #campaign."

Ty Dolla Sign followed that up by dropping the new single "Campaign" featuring Future. The talented singer debuted the song on Zane Lowe's Beats 1 radio show which has been landing all types of exclusives.
