Detroit Pistons Hire Maurice Cheeks As The New Head Coach [Video]

The Pistons filled their coaching vacancy last night with an official announcement that Maurice Cheeks would take the open seat on the bench.

Despite sending my resume and numerous emails to Pistons owner Tom Gores, it looks like Detroit decided that "experience" was important.  I really thought my opening line of, "I couldn't do worse than Lawrence" would have gotten me an interview at least!

Cheeks and George Karl were the two biggest coaching names available and either would have been a good fit for the Pistons.  Both men are known as "players coaches" who will be good for the Pistons young nucleus.

What do you think of the new Hire for the Pistons?  I still believe the best man for the job never even got a decent look . . . NO not me!  Bill Laimbeer!
