DMX's ongoing battles with drug abuse continue. Days after a troubling performance while on the Ruff Ryders Tour in Brooklyn, X has reportedly checked into a rehab facility.

Earlier this week, the rapper was announced as having postponed upcoming concert dates, and according to TMZ he checked himself into a treatment center in Southern California on Thursday (April 27). Reportedly, X checked in voluntarily after encouragement from both his manager, Pat Gallo, and ex-wife, Tashera Simmons.

With his well-documented struggles with addiction, DMX has had stints in rehab before.

"We're told he flew to Cali to get help because he felt he was 'moving to a dark place' and wanted to make sure he stayed on the right path," TMZ reports. DMX, born Earl Simmons, was allegedly drinking heavily prior to the show in Brooklyn.

Many fans were concerned about his health following that show last Friday (April 21). X was reportedly slurring his words and was extremely incoherent for most of his set. The rapper also delivered a couple of angry rants where he talked about his spirituality and the demons that continue to haunt him.

A few days later, it was announced that X was postponing the April 26 show in Los Angeles and a performance in San Diego the following night.

"It is important right now that he take some time off to focus on his health so that he can be a better father, friend and entertainer." Gallo said via statement. "We are eternally grateful for the outpouring of concern and support that has poured in. We ask that you please keep X in your prayers as he embraces your support."
