The Flint School Board voted in favor of making some major cuts to the district as steps are taken to downsize Flint schools.

The district is projected to lose hundreds of students over the next four years. Enrollment stands at 7,700 students, and the district is planning for a student base of around 6,000 by 2016.

The deficit elimination plan calls for the district to layoff 570 personnel from 2013-to-2016. 296 will be teachers. 290 will be non-teaching staff.  The cuts won't stop there though, district leaders are still looking for other ways to reduce the deficit. Ideas include offloading more school buildings, and selling the districts warehouse.
