Ladies, What Bad Relationship Advice Have You Received?

I've been in a successful relationship for some time now and randomly thought about the bad relationship advice I received in the past. Everyone has received bad advice along the way and some unfortunately implemented what was passed along. Some of us have just learned through trial and error. 

I tweeted out the question and look forward to the responses.  I remember hearing that women are unstable emotionally so talking to them about problems in the relationship will cause more problems.  I was even told to just buy your spouse things and everything would be fine.  I am no love expert but I think those suggestions were horrible.

I believe women talk, among each other, more about relationships than men.  I want to hear from the ladies but men can chime in.  What bad relationship advice have you received?
