YouTube[/caption]After watching the three parts to Kanye West's BBC 1 interview, I can honestly say I understand what he is trying to communicate.  I do believe his deliver may have rubbed people the wrong way but the message is worth listening to.

While on air during the #2TO6FIX, I watched all three parts of the Ye interview with Zane Lowe.  I took from the interview that the Yeezus emcee is frustrated from not being allowed to creatively express himself without restrictions.  With talking to Lowe, Ye revealed that his struggle to get backing for his clothing line is a direct correlation to the perception of him being just a producer/rapper.

I will agree with most people and say his delivery was not the best choice but he spoke honestly.  I don't want to start a debate because in a moment no one will care about this incident.  Here are several things I observed from Ye's interview.

1. The suppressing of minorities - Minority entertainers are giving endorsement deals but rarely given creative control of a product in which they have expertise in.

2. Gate keeping. - It seems from the interview that the fashion world is selectively allowing people to produce fashion on a large scale that 'they' believe is 'acceptable.'

3. Hip Hop is the most effective music driven cultures. - Kanye wants to make the connection between corporations and the consumer.  Ye believes hip hop connects consumers and products better than any other culture and it would make sense to have hip hop at the creative control table.

4.  Kanye West is misunderstood. - Due to his antics, people overlook what Ye is trying to accomplish.  From the interview it seems like Mr. West is trying to get give the world his artist expression to make it better.  I think all artist are essentially trying to do the same thing.

As complicated at the interview was, I do not dare to think my observation are stone cold facts.  I'm just sharing what I believe Kanye West is trying to communicate.  Working in a career like radio, there are moments of the interview I can relate to.  If you think I'm way off, please leave your thoughts in the comment section below.
