A Traverse City Police officer has resigned after being suspended for flying a confederate flag and drinking alcohol in a restricted parking area while attending an Anti-Trump rally.

On Veterans Day Traverse City Police officer Michael Peters was seen displaying a confederate flag on the back of his pick up truck at the open space. Peters was also seen drinking a beer in a restricted parking area while attending an Anti-Trump protest. Peters pulled up to the protest waving his confederate flag. Bystanders snapped pictures of the incident and post it on social media.

This isn't the first offence of displaying the confederate flag. Reports of him getting disciplined for displaying the flag at the Traverse City police station have been made public.

Officer Peters was suspended with pay on Friday after pictures of him displaying the flag went viral on Facebook. Peters has apologized for his actions and resigned on Monday.
