Offset’s 12 Best Guest Verses of 2017 (So Far)
If 2016 was the year of Quavo, then 2017 marks the ascendance of Offset, the Atlanta MC who’s gone from being the Migos’ secret weapon to ace feature artist seemingly overnight. The keyword is “seemingly.”
You see, Offset’s rise has, in large part, been facilitated by the historical glo’ up of Migos, whose platinum-selling Culture album ruled the winter with hit singles like “Bad and Boujee” and “T-Shirt.” On the former track, Offset presented himself as a versatile showman capable of handling hook duties, memorable ad-libs and, of course, turning in some stellar verses, showing rappers everywhere he was a more than worthwhile feature.
If you didn’t know Offset could flat-out rap his ass off, you might want to take a listen to Cousin Stizz’s “Headlock.” The Vinylz-produced track finds Cardi B’s main squeeze sprinting over muted flutes with tight rhyme schemes, relentless confidence and three impeccable flows he manages to squeeze in without missing a beat despite his verse only lasting the typical 16 bars in length.
Of course, “Headlock” was really just a preview for his verse on Gucci Mane and Metro Boomin’s Drop Top Wop cut, “Met Gala,” which might very well have been the best verse on the whole project. Considering how much of a roll Guwop’s been on over the last year, that’s definitely no small feat.
Today, XXL takes a look at Offset’s best guest verses of 2017 so far. Check out our list below, and see which ones made the cut.
