Rick Ross Hires 24-Hour Armed Security, Shooting Called Into Question

Rick Ross‘ near brush with death this week has got him shook. So much so that he’s now protected with 24-hour armed personal security detail, reports TMZ.

As you may know, Rozay was the target of a drive-by shooting, in which gunmen opened fired while he was driving his Rolls-Royce after he left a Florida club early Monday morning (Jan. 28). The Miami rapper nor the passenger in the vehicle were injured in the shooting.

TMZ reveals the rap mogul already used armed bodyguards for public appearances and concerts but now wants them by his side around the clock.

Meanwhile, WSVN-TV is reporting that some people think Ross’ shooting incident was a publicity stunt — this news comes after a recorded 911 call was released to the public. “I just heard a bunch of gunshots go off,” said an unidentified woman during a 911 call. When the responder asked how many shots were fired, the caller replied, “I don’t know, they’re coming back, I’m hiding,” and hung up.

Skeptics are questioning why none of the reported 20 bullets that were supposedly fired by assailants hit Ross’ car. “Some people are wondering how you shoot at a Rolls-Royce, and you miss it [even though] it’s so big,” said Shelby Rushin, a DJ at the Florida radio station 99 Jamz.

Ross’ friend, Derrick Baker, who is the Program Director at 99 Jamz, contends that the rap mogul doesn’t need to stage a fake shooting to gain publicity. “I don’t think you need to crash a nice Rolls-Royce into a building to get that kind of publicity,” he says.

“To lose someone like that would have been terrible,” he adds. “I’m glad that he’s fine, and we look forward to him coming back and putting out some great music.”

Police are still investigating the case as Ross remains secluded inside his Florida home.
