January 19, 2012 On January 18th, websites across the internet went on strike to protest the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and the related Protect IP Act (PIPA).
Some sites were completely blocked; others added censorship graphics to their banners, and some posted about the strike.
The point was to make all internet users aware of the bills before Congress and to encourage reader participation.

Tomorrow, January 18th, some of your favorite websites may not be available; why you ask? The Internet is striking to stop the web censorship bills in Congress. I don't want to get all political, so the summary of SOPA would block websites that may contain pirated material or even links to said material from being accessed in the US.
