Transformers: The Last Knight probably won’t be the end of Michael Bay’s Transformers movies, and the series seems to be expanding, whether the people want it to or not. There’s a planned Bumblebee spinoff in the works, which will focus on the smallest of the Autobots before the events of the main Transformers series. Since we’re going back into the past with this, and since Hasbro’s Transformers toys first hit the market 30 years ago, it seems fitting that the Bumblebee movie is going to be set in the 1980s.
It seems like the only thing Michael Bay loves more than figuring out the biggest, most bonkers special effects for his movies, is putting together behind-the-scenes videos of those bonkers special effects during filming for all of his fans to enjoy...
Forget about all the political nonsense that has been going on for months or the brand new iPhone blah blah blah, this is what everyone needs to be talking about. GUYS, TRANSFORMERS IS FINALLY REAL!
Ahead of San Diego Comic-Con, Hasbro revealed a new Soundwave figure that transformed into a tablet instead of the more familiar cassette player. Not one to traditionally scoff at the idea of modernizing characters from the '80s that had clearly become outdated, I balked at the idea that a Transformer toy could possibly be a tablet. It's not that a Cybertronian citizen couldn't become whatever it wanted to; it's just that a tablet is so thin it would be virtually impossible to get any form or function out of a toy that tried to mimic such minimal proportions.
Boy was I wrong.
Autobots, assemble! Over the past few days, Paramount Pictures has released new images on their Facebook page for a handful of the new autobots in Transformers: The Last Knight. While I’m certainly no stranger to animated ’80s and ’80s television shows, I have to admit, Transformers was never my thing. So if you looked at those names and images and drew a complete blank, don’t worry! I’ve got you covered.
In addition to recent images revealing upgrades for Bumblebee and Barricade, Michael Bay has unveiled another look at a robot character from Transformers: The Last Knight — but this isn’t one you’ve seen before. The latest photo reveals a brand new, original Autobot created specifically for the upcoming sequel, and he’s got a pretty adorable name.
The Transformers are returning to Detroit this summer and when filming for 'Transformers 5' begins, you could be one of the extras chosen to be in the film.
